Gingerbread Cookies

Instead of reaching for another sugar and fat laden Oreo cookie why not try a raw carrot, almond or cashew cookie or bar. Healthy raw snacks made with ingredients that still are ‘living’ and contain live enzymes and nutrients that have not been destroyed by heat and cooking will enhance your health in the nicest possible way.

Perhaps there is something to this relatively new “raw food” movement and philosophy worth considering. It is becoming quite clear that the majority of the population is eating themselves into an early grave. Why? Because we prefer the taste and texture of cooked foods over the benefits of eating raw ones and it has simply become a habit to cook the living daylights out of our food.

Did you know that of all of the species alive on the planet, humans are the only ones that generally always cook or heat their food rather than consume it raw? Interestingly, we also tend to not live for anywhere near as long as our bodies are capable of lasting.

Is this merely a coincidence? Or is it perhaps a negative side effect of a lifetime of eating cooked “dead” food rather than raw foods? But the real secret that many of us are not aware of is just how delicious raw food recipes can actually be.

Have you thought of making healthy raw snacks from these ingredients?

There are many foods that are perfectly fine eaten raw and do not need to be cooked. Ingredients like nuts, seeds, coconut, all manner of dried fruits and vegetables. When combined and blended together these wonderful healthy ingredients make the perfect healthy raw snacks and treats.

So for a change, put down that box of store bought cookies or other unhealthy snack foods like potato or tortilla chips, candy, popcorn and soda and try a raw cookie instead. It will be full of health giving nutrients and is definitely a much healthier option.

Let’s face it, our ancient ancestors lived without cooked food and were most likely much healthier than many people these days. One thing is for sure, they did not suffer from the chronic illnesses that are so widespread today. We know that this is a result of eating foods that have been cooked and so over processed that it removes most of its nutritional value. We know that our cooked nutrient-devoid processed food is literally killing us and at a minimum it’s making us sick.

Forget the oven or microwave for a bit and make yourself some wonderful healthy raw snacks that are so simple to make. Once you get your chops around one of these it is going to be a very difficult job to stop at just one.
